Editorial note

On Feb. 5, 2025, Workday announced it would cut roughly 1,750 jobs, about 8.5% of its workforce, in a restructuring that prioritized AI investment and international expansion. The attribution is Explicit because the company itself named AI as the driver: in a memo, CEO Carl Eschenbach said "the increasing demand for AI has the potential to drive a new era of growth for Workday."
